Tigers to Face West Virginia in NIT Championship Thursday Night

Clemson goes for its 26th win of the season on Thursday night against West Virginia in the championship game of the NIT. The game at Madison Square Gardens will tip off at 7:00 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN. A victory over the Mountaineers would establish a school record for victories in a season. The win over Air Force tied the school record of 25 that was set in 1986-87. That Clemson team led by ACC Player of the Year Horace Grant finished with a 25-6 record.

The State of South Carolina has a chance to win its 3rd straight NIT championship... I looked back at the list of past champions and it doesn't look like teams from the same state have ever won 3 in a row.

It's a shame Dave Odom and South Carolina didn't have a chance to go for the 3-peat... guess you've got to have a winning record to get invited to the NIT.

How long can Odom hang on to that job? Apparently it is a pretty tough place to build a winner.
