Whew... that was a close call. It looks like he was all but gone and then had a last minute change of heart after a long talk with the AD.
It just didn't make sense, why would he pass on the job at Nebraska and then seriously consider the job at Arkansas?
I've been trying to think about how I would react facing these kinds of offers, but honestly, most normal people never really face these type of situations. Maybe those of us who live normal jobs with somewhat normal vocations don't have the same types of dreams or aspirations, so I just can't think of a personal analogy where you know you have all the money you'll ever need, and are facing the choice of choosing between a safe, comfortable environment in a place you love, OR get even more money than you'll ever need, take more pressure, but have the chance to become one of the best ever at what you do.
